Globe thistle is a clump-forming flowery friend with upright, grey, woolly stems and spiny, grey-green leaves. Emma actually has what she describes as a ‘big clump’ of the spherical blue-grey flowers in her garden. Throughout the summer, she was fortunate enough to witness a kaleidoscope of butterflies visit their globe thistle haven, providing a theatrical display of fluttering wings, dancing flower heads and bobbing leaves. Her design features tall, dusty-sage stems topped with pom-pom flowers, all sheathed under a bobbing crowd of Small White butterflies.
